Fine lines and wrinkles on your face can make you look much older than you feel.
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can take years off your appearance by smoothing existing wrinkles and helping to prevent new ones.
It takes just a few minutes for board-certified plastic surgeon Stuart Baker to refresh your looks without surgery.
How Does BOTOX Work?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a form of botulinum toxin that helps smooth facial lines in cosmetic procedures. It works by reducing the activity of facial muscles that cause wrinkles. Though the name "botulinum toxin" may sound intimidating, it's a safe and easy treatment that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In a simple, nonsurgical treatment, lines and wrinkles can be softened, giving your face a refreshed and revitalized look. Dr. Baker and you will determine the injection sites to ensure they address the areas that concern you. BOTOX can ease signs of aging all over your face, including:
- Forehead furrows
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Facial lines
- Lip lines
- Wrinkles and lines of the lower face
- Nostril flaring
A Safe, FDA-Approved Treatment
Since its FDA approval in 2002, botulinum toxin treatments have been used by men and women to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles. Today, it's the only product that has FDA approval to smooth frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines in adults. It is available at The Center for Cosmetic Medicine offices in Champaign, IL; Decatur, IL; and Monticello, IL.

What to Expect When Receiving BOTOX Injections AT ONE OF OUR LOCATIONS IN CHAMPAIGN, DECATUR, OR MONTICELLO, IL
The results from your BOTOX may take a few days to appear, but it's important not to touch the injection site during this time. Doing so can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to another area of the face. To maintain your results, you can schedule periodic treatments for BOTOX at our offices in Champaign, Decatur, or Monticello.
Maximize Your BOTOX Results WE OFFER A VARIETY OF FACIAL TREATMENTS
We can perform a chemical peel to exfoliate the skin and promote the production of new cells and collagen. Our professional-grade cosmetic treatments yield better results more quickly.
Microneedling uses a device with tiny sterilized needles to create microinjuries on the skin's surface. These small wounds stimulate the production of collagen, smoothing the skin's surface.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing can treat fine lines and wrinkles by inducing the production of collagen. However, lasers also treat pigment problems like sunspots.
Microdermabrasion gently removes the outermost layer of skin. It stimulates the production of collagen, but it has the added benefits of evening out skin tone and texture. It can reduce sun damage, acne scars, enlarged pores, and even stretch marks.
Side Effects of BOTOX Injections
BOTOX is considered a safe treatment, but it may result in minor side effects. When performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon and master injector like Dr. Baker, the risk of side effects is lowered significantly. However, side effects may include:
- Temporary drooping of the eyebrows or eyelids
- Injection site redness, numbness, or bruising
- Flu-like symptoms
- Eye dryness or excessive tearing
The Difference Between BOTOX and Dysport
Dysport® is another botulinum toxin widely used by plastic surgeons when patients want to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between their eyebrows. Our office uses BOTOX because it is approved to treat fine lines and wrinkles in more areas of the face. BOTOX may also last longer than Dysport.
Medical Uses for BOTOX
BOTOX can be used to treat axillary hyperhidrosis, a medical condition that causes people to produce excessive and unnecessary armpit sweat. It can also treat excessive sweating of the palms, face, under the breasts, and soles of the feet.
Muscle twitching, especially in the muscles around the eyebrows and eyelids, can be particularly distracting. BOTOX can be injected into the muscles that control the eyebrows and eyelids to keep them from contracting.
If you have chronic migraines, a series of shots containing botulinum toxin can be injected into seven specific muscle areas around your head and neck to help prevent migraine attacks before they start.
Paying for BOTOX FINANCING IS AVAILABLE
BOTOX can vastly improve your confidence by making you look and feel younger. Though your insurance won't contribute to the cost of cosmetic treatments, many patients find the results are worth the investment in themselves.
Fortunately, our offices serving the areas of Champaign, Decatur, and Monticello, IL, offer financing through CareCredit®. CareCredit allows patients to pay in affordable monthly installments so this treatment can fit comfortably into their budget.
