Juvéderm™ is a "next-generation" dermal filler that is very long-lasting. Facial wrinkles, creases and folds can be successfully treated with Juvéderm™ injections, with excellent results that last for six months or longer. In addition, Juvéderm™ has a very smooth consistency, with a gel formulation that flows very easily into the skin for a natural-looking result. The softness of Juvéderm™ also helps minimize the discomfort that injections of older dermal fillers may sometimes cause.
Juvéderm™ is injected into areas of the face where there are moderate to severe wrinkles or folds. The Juvéderm™ temporarily adds volume to the skin, reducing or eliminating the defect where it's injected. A very fine, small-gauge needle is used for the injections. Potential side effects are generally limited to temporary site injection reactions such as redness, tenderness, and swelling. Most patients need just one injection of Juvéderm™ to correct their facial wrinkles or folds, and the results of Juvéderm™ injections are apparent.
Radiesse® is another excellent injectable dermal filler. The results of Radiesse® injections are immediate, and they typically last for one year or more! Radiesse® is a great treatment for filling wrinkles, smile lines, and the nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth. Made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel, Radiesse® does more than add volume; it helps to rebuild your skin's foundation by forming a "scaffold" that supports and stimulates the growth of your body's own collagen.
With Radiesse®, normal injection-related reactions are possible, such as swelling, redness, and itching. These typically resolve on their own within hours or days. Over a period of months to years, the microspheres gradually break down and are absorbed safely by your body.
Collagen is a type of protein that is already present in your body. It gives skin its elasticity. Collagen injections are used to fill wrinkles, lines, and scars, giving a more uniform, healthy and younger appearance.
Dr. Baker would determine first whether you are allergic to injected collagen (it's not likely, but our patients' comfort and safety are of paramount importance to us). The collagen is injected with a very fine-gauge needle at several points along the area being treated. A local anesthetic can be used first. Immediately after the treatment, you may have some minor discomfort in the injected area, and there may be some swelling or bruising, but these effects go away quickly. The effects of collagen injections last longer in some people than others, depending on several factors such as where it was injected and how active you are.
