Rejuvenate the Bust Line with a Breast Lift with Implants By Stuart Baker on March 02, 2018

Many women consider the breasts to be a pivotal aspect of their appearance and their femininity. If the shape, size, or position of the breasts is not to a woman’s preferences, she may feel unattractive and self-conscious. Unfortunately, the breasts are susceptible to the effects of aging and certain life experiences, so even if a woman has a curvy, perky bust line when she is younger, that could change. Breast surgery can improve the shape and lift of the breasts to restore a more youthful and attractive appearance to the bust line. Plastic surgeon Stuart Baker can combine different breast surgery techniques to truly enhance a woman’s figure. It is very common for patients to request a breast lift with implants at our Springfield, IL, cosmetic center. Together, a lift with implants can provide patients with a fuller, firmer bust line.

Candidates

To be considered an ideal candidate for any breast surgery, it is important that the patient is in good overall health and is free of any medical conditions that could increase the risk of surgery. If these physical requirements are met, a breast lift with implants may be an ideal option for any woman who is looking to both lift breasts that have begun to sag, as well as enhance their size. In many cases, women seeking to undergo a breast lift with implants are doing so because the size and position of the breasts have changed as a result of aging, weight loss, or pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, it is also common for women with naturally smaller, droopier breasts to come in because they want to enjoy a firmer, shapelier bust line.

What to Expect

A breast lift with implants is most often performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under general anesthesia. A traditional breast lift procedure can be performed using several different techniques, or incisions. However, when a breast lift involves the placement of implants, the options are somewhat limited. The breast lift incision will need to be large enough to allow implants to be inserted, so most patients will undergo either the anchor technique (which uses a series of incisions that circle the nipple, extend vertically down the breast, and then expand across the base), or the vertical technique (which uses a series of incisions that circle the nipple and then extends vertically down the breast). Dr. Baker will discuss these options with the patient prior to surgery and choose a technique that most closely meets their unique needs and desires.

No matter which technique is used, the procedure will involve removing excess skin and tissue from the breast and repositioning the areola to a higher location on the breast. Together, these alterations will create a perkier, firmer breast. Once these alterations have been made, an implant will be inserted into the breast before closing the surgical incisions. By adding a breast implant, we can create not just a perkier bust line, but also one that is fuller and more shapely.
