Testimonials

Dr. Stuart Baker has been in private practice as a cosmetic surgeon since 1980, and his commitment to excellence shows in the many testimonials he has received from his patients. Dr. Baker's Center for Cosmetic Medicine™ has become known as a premier source for Decatur, Champaign, and Springfield, Illinois-area cosmetic surgery. Many clients have written to tell of their gratifying experience before, during, and after a procedure here such as a faceliftbreast augmentationliposuctionmicrodermabrasion, or spa treatments, to name just a few. Here are several testimonials from grateful patients of Dr. Baker:

Dr. Stuart Baker performed cosmetic surgery, specifically a lower facelift, on me last year. I’m a "sixty-something" grandmother who has had lots of sun damage and fine wrinkling of my face and neck. To prepare my skin for optimum surgical results, Dr. Baker suggested I have several cool touch laser and medical microdermabrasion treatments to stimulate collagen growth and to even out my skin tones. I’m glad I decided to do this before the actual procedure.

I’m thrilled with the final results. I look very "natural," not at all pulled or distorted. My favorite comment from a friend was, "you look great, but you look like you!" Family and friends are still complimenting me on the benefits of Dr. Baker’s cosmetic surgical skills.

Are you age 45 to 50, exercising regularly, weight training, eating right and maintaining a stable weight? Me too! Then I entered the premenopausal phase of life. Gradually, over several years I realized that even though I had not gained weight, I had excess fat in my lower abdomen, flank and thigh areas. My clothes didn’t fit the same. All my clothes were tight. I tried increasing my cardio routine and decreasing calories, but nothing changed. That was my turning point.

My relationship with Dr. Baker’s office staff has been longstanding. The staff is friendly, supportive and accommodating. I have seen the esthetician on a regular basis for my skincare treatment. I had spoken with her informally about liposuction, and she encouraged me to consult with Dr. Baker. Dr. Baker explained thoroughly the technique used and the potential risk.

The surgical procedure was uneventful. I was comfortable and remember nothing of the actual procedure. This was thanks to the expertise of the nurse anesthetist. The recovery period was a "piece of cake." The discomfort I experienced was nothing more than "sore muscle." I required no pain medications, not even an aspirin. I returned to work in 48 hours, and I resumed my workouts in five days.

Although I had been told not to expect to see results immediately, I noticed results within 10 days. My clothes fit — most were loose. I loved the results. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

The most difficult part of this was editing my thoughts down to something of reasonable length. I have too many glowing words about Dr. Baker, all of you ladies, and my experience.

But, here goes: The consideration of voluntary, cosmetic surgery is a very serious decision. First, I decided to read and research. Then I scheduled appointments with several prominent surgeons in my area. I approached each consultation with a list of written questions. I wanted to be sure that a cosmetic procedure was the best option for me, and I was determined to choose the most qualified physician.

I needed to feel comfortable about my decision in every way.

Prior to meeting with Dr. Baker, I was able to interact with three members of his staff. They were all enthusiastic and informative. Each of them had been with Dr. Baker for several years. I sensed stability and professionalism just moments into my first visit. All of my questions were answered. Each of my concerns were treated with respect. Dr. Baker's office is managed with efficiency and warmth. Every step of my procedure was outlined clearly for me. I think, having thorough explanations helps with the pain management and erases middle-of-the-night fears.

My surgery was almost a year ago. I am delighted with the results! Each of my follow-up visits has been much like going back to visit friends who are as excited as I am. I can truly say that this is one of the best gifts I could have given myself. Thank you, Dr. Baker.

When I first saw Dr. Baker, I had hardly any use of my right hand. I was in pain 24 hours a day. I had a previous surgery by another doctor, and complications set in. I was sent to occupational therapy, but my hand continued to get worse. A friend suggested that I go see Dr. Baker. That was the best thing I ever did. Dr. Baker did surgery on my hand in July of 2002. Two days later I started using it and have been using it ever since. When I returned for post-op checkup, I asked him if I would have full use of my hand. His words, "when I first saw you I didn’t think so, but now you are doing so well that I think you will." Best words I ever heard. I peeled potatoes for the first time in nine months. It hasn’t been an easy road, but I will have full use of my hand again.

I thank Dr. Baker and all of his staff. They are all wonderful and very friendly. If I ever have to have hand surgery again, I know where I’m going. To Dr. Stuart Baker!

People from all walks of life have been treated by Dr. Baker, and their responses to his professionalism and warmth have been uniformly positive.Contact The Center for Cosmetic Medicine™ if you are in the Decatur, Champaign, or Springfield, Illinois area and a cosmetic surgery procedure by a superior surgeon is of interest to you. When I first came to see Dr. Baker, I had a lot of pain in both of my hands and arms. Before I came to see Dr. Baker, I'd had surgery on my left arm by another doctor and had gone through a lot of therapy. However, the pain continued and I had very little flexion in my left index finger. Dr. Baker ordered some tests that showed I still had nerve damage in my left hand and elbow and also in my right hand and arm. Dr. Baker did surgery on my left hand and arm first, then on my right hand and arm. The pain was gone immediately after surgery. After some therapy I was able to get good range of motion in my index finger. Before I went to see Dr. Baker I was in pain for 1-1/2 years, I was dropping things and could not grip anything. I am back to work now and looking forward to using my hands again. Thanks to his skills, I now have a chance to do my old job without being in pain. I was told that he goes to continuing education classes frequently so that he stays on top of any new techniques. Having the surgeries done has made a major difference in my life.

I started going to see the Clinical Esthetician [at Dr. Baker's practice] after she arrived in town. Before then my skincare was minimal. During the past five years that we have worked together I have had really good results. My skin has never looked better, and I am five years older. She has worked with me, especially in the beginning when I said that I wasn’t sure that I could do all of those steps/take that extra minute to apply another cream. The esthetician has been good at explaining the reasons that I have to do these things, and now that I see the results I am so glad that I did do it. I have skincare professionals ask me frequently what I use on my skin; doctors complement me and make statements about how obviously I was never in the sun (I was, the first 35 years of my life). I can’t tell you the number of different people and in odd places who have commented on my complexion. I frankly didn’t think that that many people would notice. It didn’t happen overnight and boy I wish that I would have started at 20 years old instead of 40, but it is never too late. The esthetician has guided me and advised me, but I had to do some of the work too. Trust me, it really is worth it.

First, tell the doctor he was right again. I love the Botox. I have these beautiful cheek bones and now those terrible smile lines around my eyes have softened. I was asked to write a testimonial for the new website. Here goes!! I contemplated a face lift for a very long time. I met with several doctors and just wasn't happy with what they suggested or how I would look afterwards. Meeting with Dr. Baker I felt comfortable. He listened to me, and that was very important to me. My look is as natural as can be. When I returned home, everyone said how great I looked, and they still do. No one could figure it out. Ironically, face lifts were in among my age group (age 53) last summer. I listened to peoples' comments "Oh my, she had a face lift." Me not being in the least bit embarrassed about mine would tell them. Everyone was shocked. As I said, they were saying I looked great. They just couldn't figure out if it was my hair or new makeup, which I also started using from Dr. Bakers office. The staff is wonderful and they all make you feel so very comfortable. You can tell they are happy in what they do. That also inspires confidence. They are great. I have had people look for my scars and cannot find them. With his pre-op and post-op program I healed quickly and quite painlessly. My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. Baker earlier. I would have had this done long before I did. Although, the wait was worth finding the perfect doctor and staff.

One of my favorite things to do is to visit Kelly at Dr. Baker's office. She's always pleasant, professional, and has a great knowledge for her profession. She truly cares about her clients and it's evident that she loves her job. She is the only esthetician I have ever gone to whom has been able to keep my rosacea under control. I will always be grateful to her for this!

Dr. Baker, I think it is said that gratitude is one of the least articulate of the emotions, especially when it is deep. Thank you for making me look great - I love the "new me"!
